The design of affordable and certified zero carbon emissions homes, with anthropocentric values.WHAT ABOUT TERMINOLOGY?
Various terms are in use foiromentally sustainable architecture. The most common in use are, Green Architecture, Green homes, solar homes, ecological homes, sustainable dwellings, environmental friendly houses, low energy houses, passive houses etc. All these terms maybe they have something in common, the good intention, maybe not. But the fact is that they do not provide to the end user neither to the design engineer/or contractor approved specifications about the final product which is the building.Which often leads to pour quality and expensive buildings because of the implementation of untested techniques, wrong choice of materials, lack of craftsmanship, and often poor engineering.
WE CHOOSE PASSIVE HOUSE. WHY?
The term WE CHOOSE PASSIVE HOUSE. WHY? The term "Passive House" refers to an approved European construction standard. The standard can be met using a variety of technologies, designs and materials. It is a refinement of the low-energy house LEH) standard."Passive Houses" are buildings which assure a comfortable indoor climate in summer and in winter with minimum energy demands. To permit this, it is essential that the building's annual demand for space heating or cooling does not exceed 15 kWh/(m2a).
It is a part of the Passive House philosophy that efficient technologies are also used to minimize the other sources of energy consumption in the building, notably electricity for household appliances. The target is to keep the total final energy demand for space heating or cooling, domestic hot water and household appliances below 42 kWh/(m2a). This is lower by at least a factor of 4 than the specific consumption levels of new buildings designed to the standards presently applicable across Europe.
